A few years ago I was listening to this guy on the radio. He was very passionate about not getting yourself into debt, or taking out a loan for a car. He had gone through some financial turmoil himself. After climbing out and building his business, Dave Ramsey launched Financial Peace University. Last black Friday I picked up his Complete Guide To Money. This is the handbook for the class and an incredible guide to financial peace and victory.
There is always anxiety when a new President of the United States takes office. Unknowns, excitement and fear seem to dominate the minds of most Americans. Today is one of those days. Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45 President. There seems to be all kinds of opinions ranging across the gamut. One thing we all need to remember is that God is in control.
We have a an Inventory and Order Management system that is tailored towards our business. It was written several years ago and has been evolving ever since. Magento has good order management built in, but we need more. Shipping, customer tracking, order sourcing and other key features don’t exist for us inside Magento. Exporting orders is a key function of the framework we rely on daily.
You’re always looking for ways to speed things up when you work with a catalog of 125,000 SKUs and growing. Management of the catalog is no different. Magento’s built-in import can’t handle the load and some of the other import modules might be out of budget. Fortunately there’s a way for you to tackle your inventory management issues at the database level.
Magento’s view is built by a collection of blocks. Some blocks are cached to boost performance. Some blocks are left out of cache because they’re unique to a session or dynamic. Magento 2 does a good job of sorting out most of that for you. Eventually there will come a time when customization interferes and you find yourself excluding blocks from cache.
In the first part of Proverbs 1, we learned about the beginning of knowledge and how important the fear of the Lord is. It is always important to keep your focus on God and stay away from bad advice. That fear will help prevent you from being lured by the wrong influences. Your parents are a key set of people to listen to on this earth, while studying and letting the Father (God) guide you through His word. Always avoid evil counsel and bad influences.
I was looking for a little spiritual wisdom this morning. Also for some calm and peace of mind. My mom is going in to see her Oncologist about the first procedure help treat her cancer. This is when I remembered a study of Ephesians 1 in my Sunday school class.
I’ve been working on getting our new website moving quicker. We have a large catalog and some semi-fancy functionality that slows things down a bit. I tried installing redis and turning that on. It works well, but for page caching, it just wasn’t quite enough. I have now turned my attention to varnish.
Lately, I’ve been feeling like a slave. Its gotten me down, made me cranky, and changed my outlook on my job. This change wasn’t positive and it started to cause rifts in aspects of my life. I found myself snippy, more irritable, and borderline ungrateful. I had no hope in sight, and accepted my dark path.
Today I was reminded of something Paul wrote in Colossians. He tells us to work hard, work for the Lord, and don’t consider yourself a slave to human masters.
Colossians 3:23-24 says ” 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” (NKJV)
It doesn’t matter what situation you’re in with work. Low pay, long hours, or stress. Just turn your eyes to God and the things of this world won’t matter. At the end of the day you’re doing the work for yourself, your family, and for God.
The small group I meet with is going through Proverbs. I have never done an in-depth study on Proverbs. This is a good time to dig a little deeper and make a guide to share with my daughter when she gets older. She’s only 16 months old. I am not a pastor or work in a ministry and am not trying to write a commercial publication. With that said, please feel free to use this among yourselves. I have a NOTE at the bottom explaining the legalities and a copyright just in case something comes into question. Thank you for reading and I hope this sparks something in your life.
