Daniel 6:1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom 120 satraps, to be throughout the whole kingdom;

Darius – Ruled 538-536 BC.  He took over when God judged Belshazzar (Daniel 5) and split his kingdom between the Medes and Persians.  Darius was appointed king of Babylon and here we join the story with him setting up the hierarchy of Babylon.

The Book of Daniel was written by a prophet named Daniel.  Daniel is categorized under the Major Prophets of the Bible.  Daniel lived in Babylon under several rules.  He had friends that were taken with him that he kept fellowship with.  He never wavered in his faith or his walk with God.  But who was Daniel?

Daniel 5:1 Belshazzar the king made a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine in the presence of the thousand. 

He made a great feast, and was drinking wine in the presence of thousands.  

Who is Belshazzar?

Daniel was a young man living in Judah when they were attacked by the king of Babylon.  Many people were enslaved and taken away to live there as a result.  Daniel was not only a prophet, but a true example of how our relationship with God should be.  He walked with Him with unwavering faith.  As a result, God blessed him throughout his captivity, even to the point where he was over the entire city during multiple regimes.
