I used to ask myself: What does God want from me? I was looking for a specific time, place, job title, etc. This is not really what God was interested in from me. I had to learn the long way that God just wanted me to be all in.
As we creep towards Christmas, I reminded by Matthew (with the help of an angel) that God simply wants us to not be afraid of the path he has laid out for us.
Matthew 1:20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
Mary and Joseph were scheduled to be married. Mary found out she was pregnant by the angel Gabriel. I have come to know Gabriel as the P.R. angel for the Kingdom of God. He shows up in other places, such as various places in Daniel 7-12. He always has a message that is of utmost importance.
What message is God delivering to you? Are you listening for His voice? Are you taking his cues? Are you listening to your dreams? Are you searching your hearts? No, hearts is not a typo.
Romans 8:27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
The word “hearts” here is plural on purpose. The greek meaning is two hearts. One physical, and one spiritual. The spiritual heart is the Holy Spirit. You are built in a unique way with a unique purpose in mind that only you can fulfill.
Are you searching your hearts and asking the Holy Spirit to intercede and talk to you? You should be. If you ask God what He wants from you, and go all in, He will reveal your path. Here’s the first hint. He just wants you.
And remember, you’ll always know you’re on God’s path if you don’t leave it.
