I set out on a mission from my boss to learn more about the mobile tools we had at our disposal, and then to start learning them and help the company find a good direction on mobile. One of the paths I’m exploring is PhoneGap, an html/js/css wrapper for iOS, Android, WebOS, Blackberry, BADA, and more. You simply generate your project files, open them up in the appropriate development environment (Android SDK in my case), and start building your html/js/css files.
Here’s my first app:

I decided to go with something simple for my first build. I didn’t want to spend a lot of time building an app that might ultimately just be a one shot experiment with PhoneGap. Instead, I built a simply flash card like app that will present you multiplication problems randomized from the 1×1 through 12×12 tables. There is no timer. There is no help. It simply tells you if you’re right or wrong, and gives you another problem to solve.
This app is free of charge. If you find it useful in any way, or think it’s a decent app, please consider a review and rating. If you find it doesn’t work properly on your device, I’d love to hear from you. You can comment on this post with your device brand and model, and the problem you’re having, or you can fill out a contact form.
Dan Joseph is the CEO and head of Software Engineering of Familiaris Games. Aside from my personal flash game projects, I am collaborating with Ben Davis on multiple future projects, and writing the story and script for an upcoming AAA level RPG, modelled after the same type of game play you see in Lost Odyssey, Final Fantasy, and other Japanese-based RPGs. When I'm not developing games, I'm working as a Web Developer on various major brand web sites. You can follow me on twitter @iamdanjoseph.
